"ARS Construction Services, owned by Mr. Hal Stowers, was originally contracted in May 2007 by representatives of the Board of Trustees of the William Black Lodge to install a new roofing system on the kitchen annex. The lodge is a 1950s vintage rock structure in historic Montreat, NC. The architect on the Board knew this project would present many unique challenges for even the most seasoned and experienced roofing contractor.
Mr. Stowers’ company was selected for this project because of his professional demeanor and quick assessment and understanding of these challenges. He was very proactive in his approach to the project; immediately recognizing the need for additional electrical work to bring that system up to code prior to the roof installation. His suggestions proved not only accurate but timely and ultimately saved the lodge several thousands of dollars by doing the work simultaneously with the roofing project.
Mr. Stowers was very professional in his dealings not only with board representatives but also with lodge staff. He was punctual with his appointments, as well as his work schedule, i.e., his team was on-site daily at the agreed upon time and the project was completed within the contracted timeframe. The work team was very respectful of the lodge property daily, cleaning up their work area and property grounds. Upon completion of the project, Mr. Stowers removed all trash and debris from the site and appropriately disposed of all material left at the site, including some items for which he was not directly responsible.
ARS Construction Services has completed four new roofing systems for the lodge for approximately $150,000. All of these projects were completed within the contracted price and timeline. Mr. Stowers will certainly be given priority considered for participation in any future projects at the lodge."
